RI tax revenue up 29 percent

JAKARTA: Tax revenues as of June 30 have reached Rp 129.4
trillion (US$13.21 billion), up 29 percent from the same period
last year.

Revenues from customs amounted to Rp 7.65 trillion, or up 37.5
percent, and from excise Rp 14.39 trillion, or 9.8 percent higher
than the corresponding period last year.

The figures -- all of which have reached half of their
budgetary targets -- are positive for the government, which will
need to generate more revenue to compensate for additional fuel
subsidies due to surging oil prices. -- JP
