RI takes on Italy, Brazil at Salt Lake

JAKARTA: Indonesia is scheduled to play Italy and Brazil on
the opening day of the contract bridge exhibition event at the
2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Winter Games will officially open on Feb. 8, but the non-
medal bridge competition will start earlier, on Saturday, Feb. 2.
The three-day exhibition features ten nations, the other seven
being Australia, Canada, Egypt, India, Norway, Poland, and United
States.

Indonesia, the 2000 IOC Grand Prix champion, consists of Eddy
Manoppo/Denny Sacul, Henky Lasut/Franky Karwur, and Robert
Tobing/Santje Panalewen.

The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals, with the
runaway leader being given privilege to choose its opponent from
the other three semifinalists. -- JP
