Minister of Education and Culture Wardiman Djojonegoro is to
open on May 1, 1997, a seminar titled Quality, Accreditation and
Diversity in Higher Education in The Netherlands and Indonesia.

The seminar will signal the formal start of the Netherlands
Education Center in Indonesia and the opening of its
representative office in Jakarta.

The seminar also signals the opening day of Education and
Training Expo '97 at the Jakarta Convention Center.

During the expo, the education center, in close cooperation
with its members, will provide information at the Dutch Pavilion
about the study opportunities and courses available in the
Netherlands to potential Indonesian students.

Embassy staff will be on hand to explain immigration
procedures.

No other continental European country offers such a wide
choice of English-taught higher-education programs, with courses
(over 350) ranging from Airline Pilot Training to an MBA in
Information Technology and Management.

The seminar will include distinguished speakers from Indonesia
and the Netherlands, who will clarify the quality control methods
and practices of the systems used in the two countries and
demonstrate the importance attached to a well-functioning model
for quality control and accreditation of courses and
institutions.

The Netherlands Education Center will welcome all interested
parties to the seminar, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
