RI spikers win silver, bronze

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian men's beach volleyball team of
Markodji and Irilkhun Shofanna finished second at the Asian
Circuit championships in China from Aug. 17 to Aug. 21, while the
women's team of Bertha Kaize and Agustina took third place.

On the men's side, New Zealanders Craig Seu Seu and Lefu won
the gold medal while Australians Pat Gulline and Sound Blackman
finished third.

In the women's competition, the Chinese team of Lan Hong and
Fu Lingli defeated compatriots Li Min and Dong Na to win the
gold.

The Indonesian Volleyball Association official in charge of
foreign competition, Ahmed Solihin, said the association was
satisfied with the results, adding the championships would serve
as an evaluation as athletes prepared for the 2001 Southeast
Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur. (ivy/yan)
