RI spikers reach final

BACOLOD: Indonesia's men's indoor volleyball team earned a berth in the final after defeating the host team in five hard- fought games (26-28, 17-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-13) on Saturday at West Negros College in Bacolod.

The team will face Thailand for the SEA Games title on Monday. Indonesia finished the pool round in second place with a 3-1 record, behind undefeated Thailand (4-0). The Thais won the first encounter 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-23) on Nov. 29.

"The crucial moment in the game against the Filipinos was the third set. They were under pressure and failed to win any more sets," assistant coach Gugi Gustaman said.

At the beach volleyball venue, the men's pairs of Agus Salim/Koko Prasetyo and Andy Ardiyansah/Supriadi won their quarterfinal matches against Vietnam and Cambodia, respectively.

The women's pair of Ni Putu Timy/Devota Saveriana also reached the semifinal after defeating Vietnam 2-0. -- Antara
