RI rectors to visit Thailand
JAKARTA: Rectors from Indonesian and Thai universities on Monday will hold a two-day conference in Bangkok to find ways to improve education cooperation between the two countries, the organizer said on Sunday.
"The conference will host ... delegates from more than 40 Indonesian universities and another 25 from Thailand," spokesman Zainal Abidin Achmad told The Jakarta Post by email.
"The participants will form three groups to discuss different topics -- a student and lecturer exchange program; research, science and technology cooperation; and Indonesian/Thai study centers and an arts/cultural exchange program".
Organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok in cooperation with the ministries of education of both countries, the joint conference will be held at the Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok's Pratunam district.
The idea for the event came in a cultural agreement signed by both countries on Jan. 17, 2002. -- JP
