RI pepper exports rise

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian pepper exports increased slightly between January and March to 5,659 metric tons from 5,510 tons during the same period last year, the International Pepper Community reported.

In March, the country exported 1,521 tons of pepper, comprising of 192 tons of black pepper and 1,329 tons of white pepper.

The report said that the black pepper export in March was lower than that of February due to the very limited supply in Lampung.

During the January to March period, Indonesia was the third largest pepper exporter after India which exported 6,921 tons, and Vietnam which exported 22,400 tons.

Indonesia exports pepper to Hong Kong, Singapore, Britain, the Netherlands, France, Germany, and the United States. (tnt)
