RI offers energy training

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia offered yesterday energy training facilities, including hydro stations, to the delegations attending the Sectoral Review Meeting of the Group of 77, a senior official said.

"We have expertise in hydro power stations and training centers on energy," the secretary-general of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Umar Said, told reporters after the opening ceremony of the meeting attended by senior officials from 23 developing countries.

He said that funds for training programs would be discussed at the three-day meeting.

Director General of Electricity and Energy Development Zuhal said that funding for manpower training will be supported by the European Community.

He said that Indonesia offered its training centers, including the Oil and Gas Training Center at Cepu in Central Java and PLN's 12 training centers, to the group.

"In the future we will offer to other developing countries our expertise in the construction of power stations," he said.

Zuhal said that the meeting will also discuss the implementation of the Caracas Program of Actions on Energy, joint research on new and renewable sources of energy, the creation of multi-national enterprises, and cooperation in manpower training. (04)
