RI, KL to sign labor agreement

JAKARTA: Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Jacob Nuwa Wea said he would sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on migrant workers with Malaysia on May 10.

"The MOU will lay down numerous conditions for Malaysians to employ Indonesian migrant workers. It will deal with the workers' terms of contract, rights and salaries," Jacob said on Friday.

However, he could not provide further details of the MOU, saying, "There are a lot of things mentioned in the MOU and I cannot remember them all."

The agreement had earlier been put on hold because Indonesia disagreed with several of the terms and conditions contained in the MOU.-- JP
