RI invited to German expo

JAKARTA (JP): A visiting German trade mission has invited Indonesian companies to take part in a major trade exhibition in Hanover next year.

The Hanover Fair '99, which is organized by Deutsche Messe AG, will stage seven promotional events featuring various types of products, from January to November of next year.

Eberhard Roloff, head of media relations for Deutsche Messe, said here on Tuesday that next year's expo would be advantageous to Indonesian companies.

"Indonesian companies will benefit by joining the expo," he said at a media briefing organized by the Indonesian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EKONID).

Toby Keni, an EKONID executive, said that with the sharp depreciation of the rupiah against the U.S. dollar, Indonesian products would be more competitive than those of other participants. (29)
