RI-France cultural cooperation

JAKARTA: In a bid to boost bilateral ties between Indonesia and France, the French Embassy will launch a French music program in cooperation with a local radio station here.

French Ambassador to Indonesia Herve Ladsous said on Thursday that the program would introduce several leading French musicians.

"We hope that music can function as a means of building a close friendship between the Indonesian and French people," he said on the sidelines of an agreement-signing ceremony for the launching of the program with representatives of the Hard Rock FM radio station and the Carrefour hypermarket company.

The program, which is to be called Studio Carrefour, will go on the air on April 6 and be broadcast every Saturday between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. for 15 weeks.

Ladsous also said that starting on June 23, the embassy together with French television channel TV5 would relay another French program in Greater Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Bali in an attempt to further help introduce French culture to Indonesia. -- JP
