RI facilitates Aussie exports

JAKARTA (JP): Exports from Australia's Northern Territory to Indonesian islands outside Java and Sumatra will be exempted from customs inspections, the Ministry of Finance said on Thursday.

Ministry spokesman Hadiyanto said the facility was made possible after the government posted two customs officials to Darwin to check all customs preshipment requirements for Northern Territory exports to Indonesia.

The two customs officials will issue customs approvals to exporters who have completed and submitted all documentation.

With the Darwin customs clearance, importers to Indonesia will have goods clearance without the customs examinations usually held at their arrival destination. (gis)
