RI, East Timor to iron out issues

JAKARTA: The planned bilateral talks between Indonesia and East Timor in Denpasar, Bali on Feb. 25 will discuss 13 urgent issues, a government official says.

East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) spokesperson Johannis Bastian Kosapilawan said on Monday in Kupang that the meeting would take up issues related to the payment of pension funds of former civil servants and former military and police officers, Antara reported.

Other items on the agenda include assistance from donor countries, scholarships for East Timorese studying in Indonesia as well as Indonesian assets in East Timor and transnational crimes, he said.

According to Johannis, the items had been discussed in previous meetings between officials from both sides.

"We still don't know yet if other issues will be discussed in the meeting," said Johannis, adding that the meeting is expected to wrap up what officials from both camps have agreed to in previous meetings. Antara
