RI diplomats to benefit from French scholarships

JAKARTA (JP): The French government has granted scholarships for young Indonesian diplomats hone their diplomatic skills and study the French language.

The scholarship cooperation agreement was signed here on Thursday by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary General Arizal Effendi and French Ambassador Gerard Cros.

The terms of the agreement, valid for three years, provide long term scholarships for Indonesian diplomats to study at the l'Institute Internationale d'Administration Publique (IIAP) and short-term training in France.

Under the agreement it is also possible for French teachers to be brought to Indonesia to tutor the diplomats.

In the past, the French government has provided scholarships for Indonesian diplomats to attend the IIAP, however the program ceased in 1980.
