RI businesses sign accords in Beijing

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian businesses signed four contracts,
three memorandums of understanding and 20 letters of intent in
the "Indonesian Opportunities '96" exhibition in Beijing, which
closed on Monday, Antara reported yesterday.

The news agency quoted the exhibition's organizing committee
as saying that Indonesian exhibitors were also involved in
negotiations for hundreds of projects.

The five-day exhibition, which was co-organized by Indonesia's
PT Indo Asean Persada (IAP) and China's Sinochem to strengthen
trade links between the two countries, featured a total of 31 big
and small companies from Indonesia.

According to Antara, the four contracts were secured by the
Sahid Group, PT Asia Propertama, PT Mulia Sakti and PT Sucofindo.
Two memorandums of understanding were signed by the Citra Group
on toll road and rubber dam development in Guangdong province,
and another one by the Sahid Group.

The Citra Group also signed seven of the 20 letters of intent
produced during the exhibition, while PT Texmaco, PT Bumimas, PT
Mulia Sakti Merkatama signed three letters of intent and PT IAP
one letter.

Negotiations on 141 projects were agreed to by the Citra Group
(seven projects), Batam/BTPB (20), PT Texmaco (seven), Sahid
Group (three), PT Bumimas (one), PT IAP (three), PT Mulia Sakti
Pratama (23), Indosigma Surya Co. (28), PT Sucofindo (20),
Hasanuddin cooperative (three), PT Triayu Baskara (eight),
Intermas Pacific (five) and SP Communication (one).

A total of 207 projects were agreed upon for further
consideration by the Citra Group (11 projects), Batam/BTPB (30),
PT Texmaco (14), Sahid Group (five), Asia Propertama (two), PT
Narofel Teknik Indonesia (20), PT Astari Niagara (20), PT IAP
(seven), PT Mulia Sakti Merkatama (two), PT Indosigma Surya Co.
(40), PT Sucofindo (30), Hasanuddin cooperative (five), PT Triayu
Baskara (15) and PT Intermas Pacific (10).

Call

On Monday morning, prior to the closing of the exhibition, a
delegation from the exhibition's organizing committee paid a
courtesy call on Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of
China's National People Congress Wang Guangying, who also serves
as chairman of the China-Indonesia Association.

The delegation included Djermani Sandjayaan, an expert
assistant to the coordinating minister for production and
distribution, the committee's chairman, Budi Moeffreni, and
Indonesian ambassador to China Juwana.

Wang said that his appointment as association chairman
reflects the importance placed by China on its relations with
