RI, Aussie sign housing accord
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia and Australia yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding on housing and urban development which will improve the partnership between the two countries.
The accord, signed by Australian Deputy Prime Minister for Housing and Regional Development Brian Howe and Minister of Public Works Radinal Moochtar, will put in place an institutional framework for cooperation between the two countries in housing and urban development.
Howe, who was in town to speak at the World Infrastructure Forum Asia 1994, said that the specified areas of cooperation include fostering joint projects between firms from the two nations, exchanging personnel, training and organizing bilateral meetings and conferences.
The Commonwealth Department of Housing and Regional Development in Australia and the Agency for Research and Development of the Ministry of Public Works will administer the accord. (icn)
