RI armwrestlers to join Int'l event
JAKARTA: Maulana Tirta Wibowo and Didik Tarmidi will represent Indonesia in the Asia-Pacific Armsport Championships in Guwahati, India.
The tournament will run from April 15 to April 20. Heavyweight Maulana, 28, and middleweight Didik, 33, are the defending champions in their respective classes of a week-long local armwrestling tournament, aired live every Monday on Indosiar.
"As our international debut, we will be taking part, simply to seek experience at a high-level competition," Irfan A.R., the chairman of the Indonesian Armwrestling Association (POPI), told a media conference here on Sunday.
The other countries taking part at the Asia-Pacific event are Bangladesh, Britain, China, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, Uzbekistan and India.
