Rhoma reports a tabloid to police

JAKARTA: Dangdut musician Rhoma Irama who made the headlines following his condemnation of dangdut singer Inul Daratista, reported on Thursday tabloid Bintang Milenia for libel.

The tabloid was reported to the police after it ran a story in its latest edition, titled: Rhoma Irama caught red-handed in a room with a young woman.

"The title is so tendentious," Rhoma told reporters.

Rhoma blamed the tabloid for intentionally creating the impression that he was having a love affair with the woman.

Rhoma, however, admitted that he was in the apartment in Semanggi, South Jakarta, which is owned by upcoming film star Angel Elga.

Rhoma, who was accompanied by his lawyers Muchan Yara, Hari Ibrahim, and Syaiful Anwar reported the tabloid's chief editor Fathan Rangkuti for defamation and libel.

But Warta Kota daily reported early this week that it strongly suspected Rhoma and Angel had already got married recently. If that is true then the film star has been added to the list of Rhoma's wives. They include Titiek, Veronika, Ricca Rahim, Marwah Ali, Ayu Soraya and Gita.--JP --JP
