Retailers to set up association

JAKARTA (JP): Retailers here are preparing an association
which will function as a forum to enhance dialogs and cooperation
for further developing the retail trade.

"I am willing to join the upcoming organization as an adviser
because I think such an association will be able to nurture
cooperation and unity among big and small retailers," said
Sudwikatmono at a meeting with several retailers who are
preparing the founding of the association yesterday.

Steve Sondakh, Anton Lukmanto of the Hero Supermarket, H.E.
Dachlan and Suryagupta of the Golden Truly and executives of
several other supermarkets and department stores called on
Sudwikatmono, Chairman of Golden Truly, yesterday to discuss
final preparations for the association.

The organizers said such big retailers as Cahaya and Pasaraya
Sarinah would also join the association which would eventually
set up chapters in the provinces. (vin)
