Retail construction: Is business back?

Already bustling and dense Jakarta will soon see a number of new
and modern retail centers break ground in the capital.

Cilandak, Senayan, Cempaka Putih, Kuningan, Permata Hijau and
Kelapa Gading are now strategic areas for new retail centers.

The big question is whether this construction blitz marks the
revival of the retail sector and the strengthening of the
people's purchasing power. Scenes like this run counter to claims
of a recession and in any event these builders are taking no
notice. Time will tell.
