Respiratory illness in Bojonegoro

BOJONEGORO, East Java: Acute respiratory infections have afflicted over 1,480 people in Bojonegoro along with other diseases, apparently due to seasonal changes in climate and adverse weather conditions.

According to Soepadjar, director of the city's general hospital, the data was recorded up until the end of September and exceeded the number of those affected by other ailments such as skin diseases and conjunctivitis.

He said in order to avoid vulnerability to infections, one should build resistance to disease by regular physical exercise and by not overexerting oneself.

Particularly with the onset of the rainy season, he warned against getting caught in the rain in the first few days of the wet season because as it could cause conjunctivitis and skin infections. --Antara
