Respected ulema dies at 116
UJUNGPANDANG, South Sulawesi: K.H. Abdul Rahman Ambo Dalle, a respected ulema and founder of Darul Dakwah Wal-Irsyad, an Islamic propagation council, died here Friday. He was 116.
Dalle, better known as "Gurutta" (Teacher), was a legendary religious scholar. For the last three weeks of his life, he was treated at the Akademis Hospital for old age ailments.
He was buried Saturday in Mangkoso, Barru regency, where he built the council. The Islamic boarding school, which he founded and led until his last days, was situated in Pinrang regency. (swe)
