Residents puzzled by power blackout

JAMBI, Jambi: Some 6,500 residents of Merangin regency, Jambi, have been affected by blackouts. The blackouts, which have been occurring since Aug. 18, have disrupted activity in the regency.

An official at the local branch of state power company PT PLN said the blackouts were the result of damage to the Muarosiau power plant.

"The tower was hit by lightning and we are still repairing it," said Bustam, adding that the repair work would be finished as soon as possible. -- JP
