Residents moved from critical area

BOGOR (JP): Over 170 families from Cileuksa Lebak subdistrict have been relocated from their subsiding land to the neighboring area of Cileuksa Utara, which lies 2 kilometers away.

Spokesman for the Bogor regency administration M. Sjahuri said on Wednesday the land on which the residents' houses were located had subsided as a result of a landslide which occurred in May of last year. Geologists have declared the Cileuksa Lebak subdistrict unsafe for the construction of housing complexes.

Sjahuri said the administration had bought six hectares of land on which houses for the residents would be built. He added that the administration would need Rp 600 million to finance the house construction project at the new location.

Regent Agus Utara Effendi also said that his administration had earmarked Rp 30 million for the construction of mosques across the town. (21)
