Reproductions to be sold

JAKARTA (JP): Thousands of reproductions based on the works of the late Indonesian painter Affandi are being sold at an exhibition at the Enteos Club until July 25.

Reproduction specialist Urbain Dirix said the reproductions are being sold for between US$50 and US$2,500

"We have the permission from the Affandi Foundation to make some Affandi reproductions," said Urbain, a Belgian national and Affandi's grandson-in-law.

According to Urbain, Affandi produced about 2,000 paintings, many of which are now scattered around in museums and private collections all over the world. About 400 paintings are on display at the Affandi Museum in Yogyakarta while 200 remain in his estate's private collection. (01)
