Reporters told to write carefully

JAKARTA (JP): City Police Chief Maj. Gen. Mochammad Hindarto has reminded local reporters to be discreet when writing articles on the murder of Nyo Beng Seng.

"There have been too many cases in which our investigation was totally interfered with due to `over-loaded' stories run by the press," he told crime reporters on Thursday.

He denied reports that his office requested the immigration office ban Beng Seng's second wife from traveling abroad. He also revealed that there has been no indication of the victim's driver, Saman, being involved in the killing which occurred seven months ago.

Hindarto said that the police have the identities of all remaining suspects "but it's not for the reporters' eyes."

"We will announce details of the killing later after all the suspects are arrested," he promised. "So, please do not act as detectives," he told reporters. (bsr)
