For 15 years, I have renewed the registration papers for my
1980-made Honda Accord Legendaris at the Jakarta provincial
police headquarters, and throughout this time, have experienced
nothing that would allow us honest taxpayers to enjoy a speedy
and comfortable service. Notices are put up warning us not to
deal with any middlemen, but in reality, if you wish for a fast,
painless process, you must resort to one.

Last June, I happened to talk with a police officer in charge
about the slow and inefficient service in the vehicle
registration renewal section, even if we came with our complete
papers. I was told that the police were ready to give a speedy
service, say about 10 minutes, but that the official from the
Jakarta tax service assigned there usually came rather late.

That day, I found out that what this police officer told me
was true.

Therefore, the Jakarta police chief must immediately team up
with the head of the city's taxation office to ensure that
vehicle owners, especially those with their complete papers, can
enjoy good services when renewing their registration papers.
