Rendezvous at Blok M

JAKARTA (JP): A German artist is inviting Jakartans to gather at the Blok M Plaza next Saturday, May 25 at 4 p.m. for his project entitled "Rendez-vous!"

Three thousand people are expected to participate, wearing uniform T-shirts, according to a press release from the sponsor, the French Cultural Center.

The release did not mention whether participants will keep the T-shirts after paying an admission fee.

The event, a project by German artist Jakob Gautel, was first tried last year in Paris. According to the cultural center, the project is an experiment of communication and crowds.

Gautel, 31, who lives and works in France, said he is attracted to projects in public places such as underground railway stations and schools.

One of his most recent projects was a series of graffiti messages proclaiming "I love you" in 50 languages which were written on public benches in Karlsruhe, Germany. (anr)
