Religious classes for inmates

SEMARANG, Central Java: An Islamic foundation will hold
religious classes inside the Kedungpane penitentiary, Antara
reported yesterday.

Pangudi Utama Foundation Chairman Muchoyar said the classes
were being arranged in response to the demand from inmates who
are seeking to strengthen their religious knowledge and their
faith.

The foundation, established in 1995, has been active in
providing counseling to both convicted criminals and their
victims.

Teachers from the Walisongo state-run Islamic Institute and
Semarang office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs will lead
the classes, Muchoyar said. (09)
