Religious center to be built next year

JAKARTA: The city administration will start the construction of a religious center on Jl. KS Tubun, Central Jakarta, next year, an official said.

The assistant to the city secretary for people's welfare Rohana Manggala said that the center would cater to activities of the five religions recognized by the state: Islam, Catholicism, Protestantism, Hinduism and Buddhism.

"Currently we're in the process of land acquisition," she was quoted as saying on Tuesday by the city's official news portal Beritajakarta.com.

The religious center will be a three-story building where the offices of religious figures of the five religions would be among those occupying it, according to Rohana. -- JP
