Relieve aid for flood victims

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Minister of Social Services Inten Soeweno yesterday presented 200 families in Belu regency with building materials to repair their houses which were damaged in last year's flood.

The aid was given to residents of the Sikun and Mederok villages, Antara reported. Similar aid was given to 296 families in the East and West Tasifeto subdistricts whose houses were destroyed during an earthquake and landslide last year.

The aid amounted to Rp 148.5 million (US$66,088).

A local Ministry of Social Services official, Jack Weri Wanda said the minister had also given aid to 362 families from the subdistricts of Mauliru, Lambanapu and Kambaniru who had suffered from the flooding last year. (swe)
