Regular checks on pay phones
JAKARTA (JP): The East Jakarta office of the state-owned telecommunications company PT Telkom will check on the condition of its pay phones in public places twice a week.
Office chief Rizal Saat said yesterday that the he has 300 female employees to check on public telephone booths every Monday and Friday.
The phones with priority are those in the Kampung Rambutan bus terminal, Taman Mini Park, Pulogadung bus station, Jatinegara railway stations, shopping centers and hospitals.
Rizal said that the Setya Melania operation is part of Telkom's efforts to improve its service. The employees will also seek information on which areas have high demand for new telephone connections.
East Jakarta Telkom operates over 5,800 pay phones. (pan)
