Registration for sub-contractors

JAKARTA (JP): The city pre-qualification project committee
announced that it has extended the registration period for small-
scale sub-contractors to Jan. 31, 1995.

Chairman of the committee Harun Al Rasyid said the decision is
made because there are only a few small-scale sub-contractors who
have registered themselves to participate in city projects worth
under Rp 200 million (US$91,407) each.

According to a statement from city administration, in the period
between Nov. 16 and Dec. 23, only 950 out of the 2,000 small-scale
sub-contractors in the city have submitted the forms to the
committee. The 950 sub-contractors consist of 300 developers and 650
suppliers.

Rasyid added that in this same period the committee sold 916
application forms for developers and 1,517 forms for suppliers.

Harun said that registration is important for small-scale sub-
contractors intending to join tenders for city administration
projects or those by other cities throughout Indonesia.

He explained that many sub-contractors might not understand the
importance of the registration.

Each applicant is obliged to pay Rp 25,000 for the application
form. Those whose proposals meet all the requirements will be
notified in the middle of February, Rasyid said. (yns)
