Registered voters drop by 103,000

JAKARTA: Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPUD) Muhamad Taufik said on Sunday that the number of registered voters for Monday's presidential election declined by 103,528 to only 6,617,980, while the number of polling stations is reduced by 10 from 224,224 stations into 224,214.

Taufik said the decreasing number was because many people have moved from the area where they had been registered before.

He also said that the voting period would be closed at 1 p.m. before the polling station committee could count the ballot papers. He added that the quick count result would be available on Tuesday. -- JP
