Regent voted Bengkulu governor
BENGKULU, South Sumatra: Former South Bengkulu regent Adjis Ahmad, 53, was elected by the provincial legislature as the new governor for the 1994-99 term.
Adjis won 21 out of 45 votes. The other two candidates, Rachmat Rani and Zainul Karim won 15 and nine votes respectively.
Adjis' election still has to be confirmed by President Soeharto. (arf)
