Regent named as suspect

UJUNGPANDANG, South Sulawesi: Chief of the provincial prosecutor's office Gagoek Soebagyanto announced yesterday that Maros regent Nasrun Amrullah was officially declared a suspect in an Rp 1.4 billion corruption case last Monday.

Gagoek explained that the regent was suspected of involvement in the dubious acquisition of land for the construction of his new office and of siphoning of development funds earmarked for projects in his area.

Furthermore, Nasrun Amrullah is known to have a home worth Rp 2 billion, Gagoek told journalists. (37)
