Regency to start antidengue drive
BEKASI: The Bekasi city administration plans to celebrate
Independence Day with a campaign to fight dengue fever.
"We have about 500 hot spots and will begin fumigating the
areas next month," said the head of contagious diseases at the
Bekasi Health Agency, Krisna Dewayani, on Monday.
The administration has set aside Rp 350 million for the
fumigation to fight the spread of dengue.
Krisna said Bekasi had a high fatality rate of 1.2 percent for
dengue fever, above the World Health Organization standard of 1
percent.
According to data from the agency, the West Bekasi district
has the highest number of dengue cases, while the lowest number
is in Bantar Gebang district. -- JP
