Regency to build public lavatories

TANGERANG: The Tangerang regental administration plans to develop sanitation projects that will include 40 public lavatories and 200 clean water facilities, in northern parts of the region hit by the recent outbreaks of diarrheal diseases.

The facilities worth Rp 5 billion (US$515,500) would be built in several districts, including Sepatan, Mauk and Pakuhaji and Sukadiri.

"The money comes from the Banten provincial budget," said Tangerang regent Ismet Iskandar on Friday, adding that building would start next Monday in the areas affected by the recent outbreak.

The disease outbreaks killed 17 people and affected thousands of others and was caused by poor sanitation in those areas. --Antara
