Reform school set up in Jambi

JAMBI: The province is preparing a reform school for juvenile delinquents in the province who numbers have now reached 200 children.

Head of provincial justice office Woerjito said the construction of the reform school was well underway in Muara Bulian, Batanghari.

"There are now some 200 juvenile delinquents who are being placed with adult convicts," Woerjito said as quoted by Antara yesterday.

"The provincial government is preparing a reform school which can hold 1,000 kids," he said while adding that the he feels a womens penitentiary is not yet needed because the number if female convicts is still very low. (mds)
