Red Cross renovates offices
JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta branch of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has renovated its offices in conjunction with the commemoration of its 50th anniversary.
The building was inauguration by Mrs. Surjadi Soedirdja, wife of the Jakarta governor, in a ceremony on Saturday in her capacity as an honorary chairperson of the branch, Antara said.
H. Muhammad Muas, chairman of PMI's Jakarta branch, said that the two-story building was renovated at a cost of about Rp 651 million (US$295,454), of which Rp 545 million was put up by the city administration and the remaining Rp 106 million came from donations.
At the ceremony Mrs. Surjadi also launched a fund-raising campaign from Sept. 17 to Nov. 17.
During the campaign, it is expected that Rp 2.1 billion will be collected to help its activities, Muas said. (hhr)
