'Recovery Tour' to help Bali children

JAKARTA: A charity program called The Bali Recovery Tour will be held next month, with the goal of raising money to help pay for the education of the children of Bali bombing victims and restoring the image of the island as a tourist destination, an event organizer said on Monday.

PT East West said in a statement the program would collect some 5 percent of each participant's airfare and hotel charges and give the money to the Ministry of National Education.

"This money belongs to the children of the victims," Rob Doddemeade, the company's director, said.

The company said the program would run from Dec. 28 to Jan. 3, while the booking had started on Nov. 18.

Participants of the program are required to book their tickets through authorized travel agents, including Performa tours, Vaya Tour, Marintur and Pan Travel. --JP
