Reactivating banking account

On May 8, I went to Citibank Sudirman to make a deposit. I deliberately went on Saturday morning to avoid the line-ups. Everything went smoothly until I was asked by the teller to reactivate my account. I was then told that since no transactions were made for a period of time, my account had been deactivated. I had to reactivate it at customer service and I could not deposit any money until then.

So I went to customer service, thinking that I had nothing to lose in doing so and besides, it would take only a minute. It turned out that I had to get in line because customer service was busy serving other customers. I decided to go back to the teller and cancel the transaction.

It is understandable that my account has been deactivated in the event of withdrawing money or maybe for some safety reasons, but for depositing?

I think this policy wastes customers' time. I had to line up at customer service simply to reactivate my account with other customers with different purposes and new customers who were opening accounts. Who knows how long it would take?

Citibank is a big bank expanding aggressively in the Indonesian market with its new branches mushrooming in a short period. I think some bureaucratic policies should be readjusted with the increase of new customers.
