Re-count to be held in Jayawijaya

WAMENA, Irian Jaya (JP): Thousands of ballot papers in 32 polling places in Jayawijaya regency will be re-counted, after the local elections committee said there were indications of violations in the tallying.

Demianus Jehaduk, head of the Jayawijaya elections committee, said on Saturday the ruling Golkar party had yet to agree on the vote counting results as it said there were indications of violations in the tallying.

The local elections committee also said ballot papers had been distributed before polling day on June 7 in Bolkame, Ibele and Piramid districts.(34)
