Rationing of milk imports

JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Trade announced yesterday that milk-processing companies are now allowed to import 2.9 units of fresh milk for every unit of locally-produced milk they procure.

A spokeswoman of the ministry, Lily Rosyana, said in a statement that the 1:2.9 ratio will be applied to milk-processing firms which have been appointed to import fresh milk as a raw material in their production.

These companies, she said, are required to report their milk consumption and imports to the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and The Ministry of Cooperatives and Small Enterprises.(pwn)
