Rajeg district lacks high school

TANGERANG: People in Rajeg district complained on Friday that the Tangerang administration had failed to fulfill its promise to construct a state high school in the district so as to put it on a par with other districts.

"We have to send our children to Pasar Kemis or Cikupa districts ... it costs us a lot of money," Jamaludin from Sukatani village told The Jakarta Post.

Local residents provided a plot of land for the school in 2002.

The administration promised to build a school, but later reneged on its promise citing financial constraints.

Regent Ismet Iskandar said that while the administration was running a budget deficit, it would nevertheless build it next year. --JP
