Rain storm hits Pekalongan

PEKALONGAN, Central Java: The local administration has appealed for assistance for residents whose homes were destroyed in a rain storm last week.

Asfar Wahab, spokesman for the local administration, said here on Saturday that police and military personnel have been called in to help rebuild the houses.

He said that a total of 97 houses in six villages in the regency were destroyed while over 300 others were badly damaged in the storm.

Asfar said the local administration would provide building materials to the stricken areas. (rms)
