Rado to make a comeback

JAKARTA (JP): Lured by the promise of the country's economy recovery, Swiss luxury watch company Rado will reenter the Indonesian market in September through a new sole agent, PT Jay Gee Enterprise, said the chief executive, Roland Streule, on Tuesday.

"In the past we had a strong market here but the economy crisis has hampered our business," Streule said.

Rado, a member of the Swatch Group, closed its sole agency here when the economic crisis started in 1997, but Streule said the economy was on the way up again to allow for a new marketing campaign.

Streule said his company would sell Rado watches at between US$1,000 and $2,000, which is the same price range of other expensive watches such as Movado, Cartier, Rolex and Omega. (01)
