Radio in the car

Your Sunday, June 30, 1996, feature on radio in Jakarta was enjoyable. I much prefer listening to radio in the car because streets in Jakarta are so rough that most music system played in a car are severely tested. Vibrations require either a very good auto or a very good music system, and I have neither. Radio, on the other hand, is virtually free of vibration effects, so the production is fine, even with cheap equipment in a Kijang. And listening to the announcements is a great way to develop my Bahasa Indonesia.

Just one suggestion, though. It's ok to tell me that Trijaya FM has a good talk show, but my radio only displays frequencies. How do I tune it in? I found two articles, each mentioning one or two broadcast frequencies. I looked in vain for a listing of stations with their frequencies and programming style. Depending on the time of day or my particular mood, I might want classical or pop, or old time rock 'n' roll, even dangdut. With a listing in The Jakarta Post, like the one for daily TV, I could find a station playing what I want to hear at the time.
