Questionable commentary

I videotaped the first NBA finals game between the Chicago Bulls and the Seattle Supersonics shown on SCTV. Let's face it, not everyone can take time to watch a basketball game at 7:30 a.m. I have to comment on this because I happen to be a stalwart NBA fan, as are many Indonesian friends of mine. The taping result was somewhat less than "fan - tastic" (deliberately misspelled in the same vein as the well known NBA telecasts).

My disappointment centers around the less than professional commentary by the Indonesian announcers. The funny thing about this is that right after viewing the tape I happened to chance upon a soccer game from Europe broadcast in the original English.

Why can't SCTV broadcast the games for the NBA finals as they originate from the States and then have their commentators make their remarks before, after, during halftime, or time outs of the game? Many of my fellow Indonesian NBA fans expressed their disappointment at the poor commentating during the first game. Additionally, when the broadcast replayed an interesting or exciting play, SCTV cut to a commercial right in the middle. This robbed the fan of the excitement of the replay. (I'm sorry but a chicken commercial does not compare with Michael Jordan or Shawn Kemp in action).
