Quality of SQ service

I was a Raffles class passenger on flight SQ860 from Singapore to Hong Kong on Nov. 12, 1996. I fell asleep as soon as I got settled in my seat, and woke up due to the noise when brunch was being served. I then went to the toilet, and was shortly back in my seat reading. But the stewards totally ignored me, and did not even bother to enquire whether I needed any food. It was as if I did not exist, as far as they were concerned. This unacceptable behavior made me upset, so I waited until all the passengers had been served before I complained to the chief steward. In conclusion, I had to endure the four-hour flight without any food.

I have been a frequent traveler for many years, and have used many different airlines, including Singapore Airlines. However, this is the first time I have received such treatment from any airline. It seemed quite surprising to me that it came from an airline which claims to be the best in the world! I would like to know: Is it the company's policy that a passenger who falls asleep during the flight is not eligible for any service?

The incident made me so upset that I did not use the return ticket and took a Cathay Pacific flight.
